Meet Britt Robbins, Customer Service Representative at Bamboo. Read what she has to say on our ongoing “A day in the life” series that highlights popular Bamboo Loans job functions, as seen through the eyes of our employees.
Hi Britt, tell us a bit about yourself, what do you do?
Hi I’m Britt and I work as a part-time employee at Bamboo Loans. I also go to university and study Journalism. At Bamboo Loans I work as part of the Completions team so I help customers with the 2nd half of their applications which includes sending over documents and helping them sign the contracts online, If they need any help.
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
An alarm on my phone backed up by about 6 more alarms with 1-minute intervals!! A bowl of cereal and Netflix!
What was your background before you joined Bamboo?
Before I moved to Southampton for university, I had been working for over 2 years at a smaller call center in the caravan industry. So, it was a bit of a change for me when moving to Bamboo Loans.
What is your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?
I would have to say getting into university. I’ve always found things academically a bit challenging and so getting accepted into university was a massive achievement for me that I’m really proud of.
What is your favourite part about working with Bamboo?
I’d have to say the people! Everyone at Bamboo Is just lovely and the managers are so supportive both about work and your personal life. Moving from my home town to Southampton was not easy but the people at Bamboo made the whole transition so much easier!
If you could switch jobs with someone, who would it be?
Im studying Journalism and have always loved the idea of writing my own magazine column so maybe a magazine columnist!
Outside of the office, how do you spend your free time?
I have to say I love Netflix, I always look forward to getting home from work and watching Friends on a loop! I also travel a lot, I spend a lot of weekends visiting family and my partner who studies at a different university- those weekends are my favourite!
What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?
I do love to sing! When in school I sang a lot more than I do now however I absolutely love to sing.
What is your motto or personal mantra?
Not sure if this is a motto but I think making sure you leave time to look after yourself is really important. No matter how busy you get, always make sure you make time to relax!
What advice would you give to recent new entrants?
Ask questions! Sometimes the number of new things to learn can be a bit daunting but everyone will be more than happy to help If you have any questions, and the more you ask questions at the beginning the less you’ll end up asking later.
A day in the life of Britt: Tell us a bit about your daily routine
What does the typical day look like for you?
I currently work 3 afternoons a week so on the days I work I try and get the household jobs done first thing so I can relax in the evening! I arrive into work 15 minutes before my shift so I can catch up on emails and load everything up I need! I finish at 8pm. During summer break from university I travel home each week to visit family and my partner for the weekends!
