The UKs Fraud Prevention Service Bamboo

Stay alert to Cryptocurrency scams

As interest in digital currencies continues to grow, so do the number of scams targeting people who are curious about investing in cryptocurrency. Fraudsters often use professional‑looking social media adverts promoting financial services, such as help with cryptocurrency or stock trading. These adverts may feature celebrity endorsements or personal testimonials — but in many cases, the celebrities have no idea their image is being used.

Scammers may pose as “financial advisers” from genuine‑looking trading platforms. They often show fake profit statements to convince victims that small initial investments have already made impressive returns. These claims are false.

Important: Bamboo is not affiliated with any cryptocurrency or stock trading platforms

We will never provide funding for cryptocurrency or stock trading schemes of any kind.

How Cryptocurrency, investment & WhatsApp scams work

Scammers may contact you through social media and quickly move the conversation to WhatsApp. They rely on fabricated screenshots, AI‑generated content and fake profit figures to appear credible. You may be encouraged to take out a loan and transfer the money to a third party with the promise of a “guaranteed return”.

These returns do not exist.

Key reminders to keep you safe

  • No Bamboo employee can write off your loan or guarantee repayment — any claims like this are untrue.
  • Bamboo has no relationship with any cryptocurrency or investment companies. We never partner with, promote or endorse these services.
